Top Three Stupidest Things Strangers Have Said to Me Since We've Been Home

1. As a conversation starter..."Did he bring back any diseases?"

2. After seeing Yonas pouting and sitting by himself at the pool playground because he's too young for our town's swimming lessons (and by the way, who wouldn't be ticked, especially if no can explain it to you why your siblings can swim but you can't?)..."Do you think you'll ever have a loving relationship?"

3. "Do agencies let white people adopt black kids, or did you have to fight for it?"

Unbelievable!! Good reminder Ross. I was going to say something else, but God does love them...even if they say stupid things! :)

Wow, indeed. Not to be a Pollyanna, but think of all the opportunities you'll have to open people's minds and hearts.

I'm with you though- it would be very difficult for me to hold my tongue.

Love,

Meg

So sorry that you are getting these comments - I guess the Brad, Angie and Madonna comments are so bad.

What did you say???

Here is what I would say (not really or at least praying I wouldn't)

1. No he didn't bring any disease back, but I did. I have the spontaneous right hook fever!

2. A loving relationship? Did you here about the disease I brought back? BACK OFF!

3. We have learned how to fight real good! PUT'M UP!!!!

Better start praying for my loving/Godly reactions now!

Not everyone thinks before they speak and unfortunately there is ignorance around us. You have a beautiful son and family. You are so very fortunate to have other families, who have adopted, in the community to embrace. Just remember that God is good and he has blessed you with handling these situations. Take care and love that little boy with all your heart.

Oh mercy! I've been stewing over two things said to me in the SAME day by two different people!

I had enough with one woman I looked her square in the eye and asked if she was racist. That left her speechless and scrambling for words.

yeeesh...they say travel is the best cure for small mindedness... that, or having a heart changed by Jesus. Here's to hoping we can all be challenging each other along the way.

Some people are so ignorant. You can't hardly help but to feel sorry for them.

Oh my gosh I'm a friend of Erica Shubin's and stopped by to read your blog. I have to admit, this made me crack up---is that wrong?! I really can't believe people!! I guess I figure you have to have a sense of humor--how else can you deal?! May the Lord bless you with patience and grace, : )
